SocialEvidenceToolsSocial media evidence software, compared

About this site

SocialEvidenceTools compares software for preserving social media as evidence. It is written for lawyers, litigation support staff, police, private investigators, HR investigators and people representing themselves in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

How we compare tools

Each listing is based on the vendor's own website, checked on November 1, 2026, and on primary sources such as court rules and legislation where we discuss the law. For every tool we record which platforms it says it captures, how it shows integrity (hash algorithm, timestamp source, signatures, reports), what it publishes about price, and who it is built for. If a vendor does not publish something, we say so rather than estimate it. We do not invent ratings, reviews or customer numbers.

Our specialist pick

We feature Social Media Evidence as our specialist pick for TikTok and Instagram because it is built for archiving whole public accounts on those platforms, with transcripts and search. Other tools are stronger for other jobs, such as broad web capture, OSINT research, enterprise archiving and device forensics, and each listing says where.

What we do not do

We do not sell software, capture evidence or store case material, and nothing on this site is legal advice. If a detail is wrong or out of date, tell us through the contact page and we will check it against the source.
